Your privacy, plainly.

This page explains exactly what information we collect, why we collect it, who sees it, and how to ask us to delete it. In plain English, no legal jargon — because we built this site the same way.

1. Who we are

This website (drfahdkhan.com) is operated by Dr Fahd Khan in connection with his clinical practice at N1 Dental, 66–67 Halliford Street, Islington, London N1 3HF.

For any privacy-related question, request, or complaint you can contact us at:

For the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, we are the data controller for any personal information you provide through this site.

2. What we collect

We only collect personal data when you give it to us directly, or when our anonymous analytics records a visit. Specifically:

  • Information you submit on the contact form — your name, email, phone number (optional), and the content of your message.
  • Information you send by email, phone, or WhatsApp — the contents of your communication.
  • Anonymous analytics data (only if you accept cookies) — pages visited, time on page, device type, country, rough geographic region, referring website. We do not collect your IP address, your name, or any data that identifies you personally.

We never collect health, dental, or medical information through this website. Clinical records are managed separately at the clinic under its own privacy notice, which is provided to patients in person.

3. Why we collect it (lawful basis)

Under UK GDPR, we rely on:

  • Legitimate interests — to respond to your enquiries and provide the dental information you asked for.
  • Consent — for analytics and any tracking cookies. Until you click Accept on the cookie banner, no analytics or tracking happens.
  • Legal obligation — where we are required to retain certain records (for example, financial records relating to consultations).

4. Cookies and tracking

This site uses two categories of cookies:

  • Essential cookies — strictly necessary for the site to function (for example, remembering your cookie preference for six months). These are not blocked by the banner.
  • Analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4) — set only after you click Accepton the cookie banner. They help us understand which pages are useful and which need improvement. We use Google's Consent Mode v2 so that by default, before consent is given, Google receives no trackable user data.

You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser cookies for drfahdkhan.com; the banner will reappear and you can choose to decline.

5. How long we keep it

  • Contact enquiries — kept for up to 24 months from the date of your last correspondence, then deleted, unless you became a patient (in which case clinical records are kept under our separate clinical retention schedule, in line with NHS / GDC guidance).
  • Analytics data — stored by Google Analytics for a maximum of 14 months, then automatically deleted.
  • Cookie consent preference — stored in your browser only, for 6 months, then refreshed.

6. Who we share it with

We do not sell your data. Ever. We share limited data only with the following service providers, all of whom act on our written instructions:

  • Netlify — hosts the website. Server logs may briefly record your IP address for security purposes.
  • Google (Analytics)— receives anonymous analytics data only after you accept cookies. Google may transfer this data outside the UK / EEA, including to the United States. We rely on the UK's adequacy decision and Google's Standard Contractual Clauses for these transfers.
  • Email service providers — if you contact us by email, your message passes through standard email infrastructure (currently Microsoft / Google business workspaces).

We do not use your data for advertising, retargeting, profiling, automated decision-making, or any third-party marketing.

7. Your rights under UK GDPR

You have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification — ask us to correct any inaccurate information.
  • Erasure — ask us to delete your data (subject to legal retention obligations for clinical records).
  • Restriction — ask us to stop processing your data while a query is investigated.
  • Portability — request your data in a portable format.
  • Object — object to any processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Withdraw consent — at any time, for any consent-based processing.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@n1.dental or write to us at the address above. We respond within 30 days.

8. Complaints

If you are not happy with how we have handled your personal data, you have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO):

  • Website: ico.org.uk
  • Helpline: 0303 123 1113
  • Post: Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF

We'd rather you came to us first, though — most issues are quicker to resolve directly.

9. Children

This site is intended for adults considering dental care for themselves or for a family member. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13 without parental consent. Patients under 16 attending the clinic are seen and consented through their parent or guardian in line with GDC and Children Act guidance.

10. Updates to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Significant changes (for example, a new analytics tool) will be communicated through the cookie banner so you can give fresh consent.
